Highlights as a Theater Educator

Growing up, I was fortunate enough to have access to affordable theater at a young age. I was involved at my local children’s theater and later on involved in the theater department at my high school. I grew up learning from amazing theater educators and artists who truly cared about me and supported my growth. Having that platform for creativity completely shaped the person I am today. Theater educators are vital and the foundation of this industry.

During the summer of 2022, I was an intern in the education department at Barrington Stage Company. As an education and administrative intern, I taught kids (ages 7-15) at the youth theater camps. The camps were focused in collaborative theater-making. I led classes, exercises, and worked on devising original shows and musicals written and created by the kids.

This past fall, I had the opportunity to be the student assistant for the head of my program, Adrienne Kapstein. I was the TA for a class called University 101 for the new freshman students enrolled in my program. I engaged in lesson plans and organized guest speakers to come to our class every week. I had such a great time getting to know the kids and giving them advice as a senior student in the program.
